Invitation

Welcome to the Wakimachi Christ Church Website

There are sorrows and sufferings around us. Parenting, the severance of parents and children, bullying, anxiety about the future, worry about illness and old age, etc. Everyone wants to have a peaceful and hopeful life and wants to sleep peacefully, but that is not easy. It is the true God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who helps you for that realization.
Jesus Christ is still alive, and he is with those who believe in him. Please come to the church first to meet Jesus. You will be able to live a fulfilling life that you never imagined before.
We sincerely hope and want you to know the joy of living by the True and Living God.

Church Introduction

We are a traditional Protestant church with a history of over 75 years here in Wakimachi.
It is an evangelical church that believes in the Bible as the Word of God.
Wakimachi Christian Church was established in 1946 in Tsutsui Silk Mill by Rev. Eiichi Ito, and from 1947 to 1954, it was a period of foundation building, including the establishment of Wakimachi Brothers Church, the inauguration of Rev. In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Sadao Ishikawa donated the present land for the construction of the old church building, and the dedication ceremony was held in 1955. After the retirement of Rev. Iwai in 2004, two substitutes, Mitsuru Iwai and Kazuyuki Otake, were assigned to the church, and in 2008, Mitsuru Tsukamoto received the ordination of pastor at the "Katsumizu-no-Gun" United Church of Christ. In 2008, Mitsuru Tsukamoto received the ordination and assumed the office of pastor at the "Kassui no Gunma" United Church of Christ.

In March 2023, Pastor Mitsuru Tsukamoto reached retirement age and retired, and has been serving as an associate pastor since April. Pastor Atsuo Kinoshita of Sadamitsu Christ Church has assumed the position of senior pastor.

As the church is getting older, transportation has become difficult. For this reason, a church shuttle van was purchased. The van is used for worship services, prayer meetings, various gatherings, and special gatherings at various locations, and everyone is very happy to use it.

We also installed a glowing cross on the roof of the church. The cross shines brightly and white from dusk to dawn, visible from afar, providing comfort to those who are troubled.

Our church has various age-appropriate groups, such as CS Children's Group (babies to elementary school students), Olive Group (junior high school students to young married couples), Abraham Group (men and mature adults), Lutz Group (housewives), and others.
Please continue to remember this small church in your prayers.
